What a year it has been! From the initial threat of Covid-19 at the start of the year, to a full 'lockdown' during the summer months, 2020 has been a year like no other.
Whilst everyone has felt the effects of the pandemic, we have been no different and have had to adapt massively to the change.
Luckily, our short-term stays are always booked far in advance so it's business as usual for our beautiful barns, The Deer's Leap, The Meadow Springs and The Swallow's Nest. Our Lake House was also booked for the year which got us thinking about renovating The Boat House.
Post lockdown, we got stuck in to revamping The Boat House into another beautiful short term accommodation. Sitting beside the water, we thought it was only right to keep up the nautical theme inside and out. The grey building looks striking next to the sparkling of the lake, and the garden area includes lots of natural material, from rope twine to decking. Inside, the quaint and cosy theme continues with a homely living area, a kitchen and a bathroom and the master bedroom towards the back of the property. Upstairs is another bedroom nestled in the arches of the roof.
Creating this beautiful place felt like a huge achievement during such a turbulent time and we are thrilled with the end result! The Boat House is fully occupied for the foreseeable future with lots of lovely guests who we can't wait to welcome!
Elsewhere on the estate, we have been busy conducting essential works on the Cwrt Yr Ala House. We've replaced roof tiles, painted the house, maintained the lawns and cleared out the workshop. No chance of a 'lockdown holiday' on our Estate!
When we have taken a break, we have enjoyed nature walks through Michaelston-Le-Pit, completed a wildlife challenge, and even rescued a frog from the swimming pool! We have also enjoyed riding on the quad bikes through our woods, and welcomed a new addition to the family - Mittens the kitten!
Of course, this year has been tough for lots of people and we know people have been greatly effected. We hope 2021 is better for everyone, especially the heroes who have helped us get through such difficult times.
